News clippings — September 2006

September 1, 2006 by Tara Brabazon

It was a pleasure to hear from many of our members during the month. A new member of the PCC, Meg Shields, told me about her remarkable life balancing family, work, study and writing. She remains an inspiration because from her struggle is being forged passionate and powerful work. She is currently working towards a script — to shoot at Christmas — for a Tropfest entry. She also has her "Solitary Confinement" short under review, so we wish her every success. Her talent is obvious to all who know her.

In the continued successful career of Pip Doyle (reported in August 2006 News), she has also been heard on the Perth-based ABC station 720. She appeared with Geraldine Mellett and — to quote our PCC member and listener Debbie Hindley, she was "sensational." Well done Pippa.

Continuing with Debbie Hindley, I want to inform members that she is our newest doctor, with her doctorate being conferred on November 1. Our congratulations Doctor Debbie!

I look forward to reporting the PCC's continued achievement and success through October.
