Background information and interests

I am studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a minor in cultural studies. Travelling is my first love. My trips have included Geraldton (November 2004) where I visited the little Greenough settlement. Two convicts obtained their freedom by digging a well there by hand. That must have been an incredible fete in those days with pics and shovels, in the heat. The other trip was to Darwin to Adelaide on the Ghan and home on the Indian Pacific. This was a new experience for me as I had never slept on a train before. Kakadu has some amazing Aboriginal paintings and the waterways abound with all kinds of exotic wild life.

I have edited a magazine for the Westfield Writing Group called ‘Writer’s Ink’ which is available for a $2.50 donation to the cover costs of printing. This magazine is also in the Alexander Library in Perth.

A story I wrote called The End of the Road, has now received a commendation from Midland Literary Competition 2005 together with another story “Cory’s Love” which was highly commended. “The End of the Road” appears under the Body Hub section that is exploring the phenomenon of loss and grief and the effect these emotions have on our bodies and minds.
