Some fine news to report in October, and a completion of one of the projects we set ourselves for the year. Some of you may remember that the Critical Digital and Rhythm and Movement hubs joined for a combined project on mobile phone ring tones. The result of this research has just been published in the journal AQ — Australia Quarterly. My thanks are extended to Leanne McRae, Felicity Cull and Mike Kent for not only producing outstanding and timely research, but once more increasing the visibility of the PCC in public debate and discourse.

Great journalist success has also emerged from our Editor of the PCC, Angela Thomas-Jones. She has had two articles published in Cream, one in the August/September issue (33) and the other in the October/November issue (34). We all congratulate Ange for her ongoing commitment to writing in all its diverse forms. The PCC would not function without her daily care and attention to all our words.

One final request of members. We are thinking about our projects for 2006. One I would like to propose — either based in the Sound and Vision or Creative Industrial Matrix hubs — is a study of the new documentaries emerging through 2003-5. I have been collecting these, and am fascinated how documentaries, the 'ugly frock' of the popular cultural closet, have suddenly become fashionable and important. Please think about prospective projects, and I'll report these for members through November and December.

Take care and see you in November.
